Announcement:
- We will have a Chinese New Year celebration on Feb. 08th from 06:00PM to 07:30PM at the Gym. I plan to let students sing some Chinese songs we learned from class and dance to “xiao ping guo- little apple”. There are many activities such as Chinese Gong Fu performance, Diabolo (Chinese yo-yo), Chinese paper cutting, Calligraphy (New Year’s couplet), Using chopsticks to pick up beans, Hook bottles on a string, snack, more. Please come with your family to celebrate the Chinese New Year with us and have fun.

- Speaking: calendar dialogue (Speed dating 1):We focus on conversational practice. Student A (今天是几月几号/日? What's the date today? & 今天星期几? what day of the week is it?) and student B (今天是二月十号 Today is Feb. 10th. & 今天是星期三Today is Wednesday.). - Writing: 今天是二月十号星期三(Today is Feb. 10. Wednesday)。昨天是二月九号星期二(Yesterday was Feb. 09. Tuesday. )。明天是二月十一号星期四(Tomorrow is Feb. 11. Thursday.)。We spent about 10 minutes to discuss why month "Feb" doesn't change while the date is moving forward/backward. Some students were confused. They put "Jan" on yesterday's date and "March" on tomorrow's date.

- Listening activity: Teacher plays a audio clip and students write the correct answer on their folders. Listening practice (See video below.): The listening audio are our weekly computer game. We practice more together as these are new games for them. They will be more likely to play our computer games by themselves after practicing together. Normally, students don't really like to play them by oneself on Monday or Tuesday because these are new for them so we have few available spots for first two days of week. However, all computers are taken on Thursday and Friday once they get chances. This is because they are more familiar with the new games and are confident that they are able to get 100% on them. They get a sticker when they get 100% on computer game. I also strongly recommend that you have your kid to play our weekly computer game at home. They will more likely to help other students to figure out the answers in the school.

- Add & subtract game: 2 students pair together. They take turns to roll both cubes (0-5 and 5-10). Students need to add and subtract the numbers and write the number sentence. Then circle all numbers show on the sentence to the number chart. The partner who circle all of the numbers on their chart is the winner. (See pictures and video below.)
